You’ve been Super Bride for months now, planning your big day, delegating tasks to various friends and family members and not really slowing down to enjoy the process and excitement of your upcoming nuptials. That is why you deserve to let loose and celebrate your “freedom” before you tie the knot. You know what that means… BACHELORETTE PARTY TIME!
Recently, there has been a trend of full on bachelorette weekend celebrations. 2-3 days of debauchery and girl talk that will leave you wearing sunglasses in your cubicle on Monday morning.
This post is geared more towards those weekend-long celebrations, but can be used for a one-day rendezvous as well!
To start off, here are a few questions (and our answers) to get you started with the party planning!
1. Who is going to plan it? You can take this on yourself, or you can pass it on to your maid of honor of one of your bridesmaids. Ultimately, the entire group will have to agree on when, where, what you will be doing, but having one “go to” person will keep things organized and less stressful. Remember, this weekend is about de-stressing the stressed out bride-to-be!
2. When will the bachelorette party take place? It’s best to plan your bachelorette party long before the big day. Having it the day before of even the week before leaves you vulnerable to hangovers and exhaustion that can affect those most stressful final days and hours. One month before your wedding weekend gives you just enough time to detox your system and run off all the carbs you filled yourself with during the farewell brunch. Make sure that whoever the “planner” is reaches out to the attendees early on so that you can all check your schedules and work out a weekend that everyone, or most of you, can attend.
3. Where are you going to go? Are you ready to take a cross country trip to Vegas or Los Angeles? Perhaps you want to stay on the East Coast and visit New York or Miami? You could always stay southern and celebrate in Nashville, Savannah, or Charleston. There are countless locations to choose from, but you need to make sure you keep everyone involved in mind when making this decision because not everyone’s budgets can afford a cross-country caravan. Not that we have to tell you, but weddings are expensive! And if you can’t make the funds work to book a flight and hotel in your favorite city, then keep it local and have a No Fret Bachelorette! Also known as a Staycation, this option allows you to enjoy all of the excitement you could experience elsewhere while keeping your budget on track! If you’re a local bride, you can save money from not having to travel and be able to enjoy more of what Wilmington has to offer. And if you’re a destination bride, this is the perfect opportunity to remind yourself and your friends why you chose to get married in Wilmington!
